  • Abstract:

A simple, idealized model of construction projects is examined, in which projects are assumed to consist of a number of separate tasks, each of which is repeated a number of times. The concepts of randomly occurring interference, and variability in performance, are introduced, and their effect on the duration and cost of projects is examined in terms of the nature of the project. Conclusions are drawn as to the relevance of the analysis to live construction projects.
